Planning to visit multiple countries in Southeast Asia? Here's how to travel between them smoothly — by land, air, or sea.

A traveler's backpack, passport, and transportation tickets laid out on a Southeast Asia map, symbolizing cross-border travel planning

✈️ Flights

Low-cost airlines like AirAsia, Scoot, and VietJet connect major cities like Bangkok, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, and Bali. Book early for the best prices.

🚌 Buses & Vans

Popular for short distances (e.g. Bangkok to Siem Reap, Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh). Use Bookaway or 12Go Asia to reserve seats in advance.

🚆 Trains

Great for overnight routes like Bangkok–Chiang Mai or Johor Bahru–KL. Not all countries are connected by rail, though.

⛴️ Ferries

Used between islands (e.g. Thailand’s Koh Samui to Koh Phangan) or Indonesia’s inter-island routes.

🛂 Visas & Border Crossings

Most ASEAN countries offer visa-free or visa-on-arriva
